Lesline McEwan, RP, is a registered psychotherapist, member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) , member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP) , member of the Mental Health Professionals of Ottawa (MHPO) , trained in culturally adapted modalities including tailored (ACT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy – targeting black racial trauma.
Lesline has conducted mental health workshops and seminars for the Federal Public Service, and other public and private organizations on topics such as gender based/domestic violence, workplace issues, bullying, work life balance, mental health. She worked and collaborated with organizations such as City of Ottawa, Somerset West Community Centre, Arts Network Ottawa, Canadian Center for Women’s Empowerment, Black Ontario Public Service Association, Famhas Foundation. She has collaborated with UNDPAD Push Coalition to do Pan-Canadian webinars on Mental Health for the ACB community including some sessions on the Dr. Vibe show.
In addition, she has led the (NCAC) New Covenant Apostolic Church ACB Mental Health Services team since 1999. She works from a culturally sensitive and competent framework and intersectional lens that considers the diversity of the Black experiences. NCAC is known for their leadership in providing and advocating for access to culturally appropriate mental health services for the Black community. They are currently offering free sessions for ACB women affected by Gender-Based Violence.
Lesline is a well-known member of the Ottawa black community and wrote a column called “Ask Lesline” in the Spectrum, a leading community newspaper for many years.
